Winding Road Entertainment is an independent production company based in Melbourne, Australia. In 1993, it merged with Colosimo Film Productions, and in 2011, respected filmmaker and distributor, Alan Finney commenced his collaboration with the company. Will Spencer, Alan Finney and Rosa Colosimo have extensive experience in production, distribution, promotion and broadcasting.

This combined experience dates from the early days of the modern film industry in Australia, when Alan Finney joined Roadshow Film Distributors in 1971 and was instrumental in the formation of Hexagon Productions, the first ongoing joint venture between Production and Distribution entities in contemporary Australian history. This joint venture produced such significant films as ALVIN PURPLE, PETERSEN, END PLAY and ELIZA FRASER. At Roadshow, Finney supervised the release of classics like MAD MAX, BREAKER MORANT, THE PIANO, PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT, as well as films like CINEMA PARADISO. As Chair of The Australian Film Institute, he continues to make a significant contribution to the film industry and to film culture.

Will Spencer’s credits include ON MY OWN, a co-production with Italy and Canada which received six nominations at the prestigious AFI Awards, including Best Film. He was the executive producer for Scape, the Village Roadshow/Channel 10 internet youth portal and as such, was one of the earliest producers of internet content. He was the founding CEO of Selectv, a 35 channel satellite broadcasting company which was sold to WIN corporation and then to Foxtel.

After distributing Italian and French films in Australia from 1980, commencing with Federico Fellini’s PROVA D’ORCHESTRA and Francesco Rosi’s CHRIST STOPPED AT EBOLI & THREE BROTHERS, Rosa Colosimo became one of the most prolific film and documentary producers in Australia. A STING IN THE TALE, told the story of Australia’s first female Prime Minister. BLOWING HOT & COLD marked a first collaboration in Italy, with legendary producer, Arrigo Colombo and led to her pioneering Australian co-productions with Italy. All her films were successfully sold internationally, won numerous awards and were invited to several overseas festivals. In recent years, she has focused on writing.

In 2012, Winding Road Entertainment acted as creative consultants on Academy Award winning director, Giuseppe Tornatore’s film, “THE BEST OFFER”, which will be distributed in Australia by Transmission.

The company continues to offer consultancies and is developing several projects for production in 2014.
